Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to thank all you for your prayers and for fasting for us. We feel your love and support and that makes our trials bearable and gives us courage to go on everyday. I had an MRI on Tuesday (yesterday) which unfortunately confirms that my tumors are growing and I have increased swelling in and on my brain. That explains why I have had so many headaches and have felt a lot of pressure behind my eyes and on the sides of my head. It also somewhat confirms that my treatments have not worked as hoped. There were a lot of reasons to hope that they would but sometimes that is just not in the plan. There will be a big conference here in St. Louis on Monday and my case will be presented and ideas discussed. As I mentioned before, this tumor is incurable so my treatments from here on are only based on improving my quality of life and hopefully length as well. I was made aware that there are not a lot of options but am looking forward to information from the conference.
I had mixed feelings yesterday. It was a hard day. In a weird way, I felt somewhat relieved that there really was a cause for my change in symptoms but getting that confirmation was admittedly difficult. If it's ok with everyone, I would like to not discuss my results with my boys right now. I will eventually of course. Tyler is sick and trying to get through his schooling at Utah State while long-distance preparing for his mission. The focus should be on his exciting calling to Paris, France and the preparations for this great event in his life. He enters the MTC on June 3. It was great to have him home for his birthday. We love to be around him and hear about his life in Logan. He bore a strong testimony at church Sunday and it was the greatest gift a parent could hope to receive. I love and admire him tremendously.
Justin received a tuition scholarship to BYU and was also accepted into the BYU School of Music. Both were a huge surprise! He is so excited about pursuing his music talents and going to BYU. Friday he is performing a solo at a solo festival that just gives me goose bumps. It is genuinely amazing. He and Ryan have been asked to play the national anthem (Justin on trumpet and Ryan on snare drum) for the school variety show on Friday and Saturday nights. I have never been so proud as I am when I hear them play that inspiration song.
Jason is performing in the school variety show. He is dancing to Michael Jackson's "Thriller". What a crack up! I remember dancing to that when I was a freshman and counselor at EFY!
John had a great time with some friends at the Blues game last night and is leaving today for a trip with his office staff to New Orleans until Sunday.
I walked in a pet race last Saturday with Ryan and Daisy and Lily. Daisy and Lily became best friends with two St. Bernards (one weighed 200 pounds and the other one -not even a year old- weighed 175 pounds). Our dogs seem completely unaware that they are much smaller than most other dogs. I mean in height at least. They became very popular and lots of people were cheering especially Lily on towards the finish line of the 1.5 mile race. In spite of being bullied away from her food by Daisy, Lily is still pretty fat. She has short legs which makes maneuvering her flabby pug-self difficult but funny to watch. We tell her she's just "a big boned girl" so she doesn't get too depressed. Now that I'm on steroids again, I'll have company with the overweight problems associated with it. We missed winning by just a "hair". Just kidding. That's what we told the dogs anyway. It was very cold but fun to get out of the house...Been lucky to keep up my goal of one race/month so far anyway...
Thanks again for everything. We love you and appreciate all you do for us!
